Celia Serani - Biography

Celia Serani

Artist

A career that started in the 1990's as a Decorative Painter took Celia around the country and  into some of the most beautiful homes and estates. From St.Maarten to New York City, she had many 'pinch me moments' ,like gold leafing doors in Celine Dion's first Florida home to faux finishing the walls in the VIP dining room at the Trump Golf Club in West Palm Beach. However while she was busily going from job to job, her personal life took an unexpected turn when her marriage sadly ended. With the choice to shut down or pick up the pieces and proceed ,she decided  to pursue her passion and enroll in art classes at a local college where she studied the basics of drawing fundamentals through advanced drawing, oil painting, and color theory. This led to signing up for workshops with artists whom she admired and whos work resonated with her. As the progression of the art side of the business evolved she was asked on many occasions to do commissioned paintings and going from wall murals to canvas work was a natural transition. Art has been a source of healing, and has inevitably become her happy place.

When Covid hit in 2020 this was another transitional time because unable to go into clients homes; it was an opportunity to put together a body of work and start approaching local high end furniture shops and by the following year she was established in several stores in south Florida.
The work Celia is doing at this time is a mix of representational when painting en plein air; or outdoors, but in her studio work she bends that into abstraction trying not to be to fixed on copying the small study. The main influence for the studio work comes in part by her years as a decorative painter, tapping into memories of painting abstract finishes on walls and surfaces.  If you care to join her mailing list you'll be notified when new work is on the easel!
